From outdoor movie screenings and live music to First Wednesdays filled with food, dancing, and games, there’s always a fun event going on in the area. One of the most popular happenings is the Walnut Creek Summer Concert Series—an annual celebration of live music and community. Here’s everything you need to know about its 2019 lineup.
Where Will it Be Held?
This summer, the Walnut Creek Summer Concert Series will once again be presented at Broadway Plaza, an open-air shopping center in downtown Walnut Creek. Taking advantage of the Bay Area’s beautiful and breezy summer weather, this concert series provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to get outside and enjoy local San Francisco artists’ live performances.
When Does it Start?
Following last year’s success, the Summer Concert Series returns in 2019 with live concerts taking place every week in August, starting on August 1st. For five weeks, the community of Walnut Creek can come together at Broadway Plaza starting at 7 p.m. to soak up the summer and some tunes from local bands. This year’s lineup includes The Pat Benatar Experience, The Unauthorized Rolling Stones, Queen Nation, and more--all classic rock cover bands that the whole family can enjoy.
What’s the Lineup?
August 1 The Pat Benatar Experience: six-piece band
Best Shot gives a lively and authentic tribute to iconic rock legend Pat Benatar. Wearing classic costumes and singing Benatar’s greatest hits like "Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” "Love Is a Battlefield,” "Heartbreaker,” and more, casual fans and diehards alike will enjoy singing along.
August 8 The Best Intentions: comprised of five singers and an eight-piece band,
this group’s soulful vocals and smooth choreography combine the sounds of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, culminating in a masterful and entertaining performance.
August 15 The Cheeseballs: it’s impossible not to get up and dance when this San Francisco-based
band performs. Covering everything from 80s favorites like Queen to current jams like Bruno Mars, this experienced group brings funk and soul to every note.
August 22 The Unauthorized Rolling Stones: what originally started as a local tribute
band has quickly grown into something of a worldwide phenomenon. This group showcases a battle of the sexes tour, taking the audience through decades of classic rock with music by the Rolling Stones and other legendary acts.
August 29 Queen Nation: paying homage to Freddie Mercury and the powerhouse performances of Queen through sound, image, and stage presence,
this band’s 90-minute show is unparalleled. Jam to favorite hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” “We Will Rock You,” and more.
